Description
Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are a hearty and flavorful twist on a classic, combining the beloved flavors of cheesesteak into a delicious sloppy joe filling that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 4 rolls (burger buns or hoagie rolls)
- 8 slices of provolone cheese
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for sautéing
- Optional toppings: chopped fresh parsley or hot sauce
Instructions
- Start by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil, then toss in the diced onions and green bell peppers. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet with the sautéed onions and bell peppers. Cook until the beef is browned and crumbled, approximately 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce into the beef mixture, adding salt and pepper to taste. Top the mixture with provolone cheese slices, covering the skillet until the cheese melts beautifully.
- Toast your rolls lightly. Spoon the Philly cheesesteak mixture onto the buns, making sure the cheese and beef overflow for a perfect sloppy joe experience. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For longer storage, freeze the beef mixture for up to three months.
- These sloppy joes pair wonderfully with crispy fries or a simple green salad.
